Agricultural Decision Making with a Water and Climate Change Perspective Regional Conference
The Heartland Regional Water Coordination Initiative is a partnership of Iowa State University, Kansas State University, the University of Missouri, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s National Water Program, and US EPA Region 7. The goal of the Heartland Initiative is to build institutional partnerships and increase the capacity of citizens, educators, agencies and community leaders to better address water quality concerns. Heartland programs make research, education and extension resources of the land grant universities more accessible to efforts on regional priority water issues.
The Agricultural Decision Making with a Water and Climate Change Perspective Regional Conference took place Nov. 1-3, 2011 at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center the in Nebraska City, NE. This conference was co-sponsored by the Heartland Regional Water Coordination Initiative and NOAA Central Region Climate Services and was aimed at educational, advisory and regulatory personnel of Extension, agencies, and other organizations concerned with water resource management.
More than 110 participants from IA, KS, MI, MO, MN, NE, NC, and Washington D.C. attended. The program included science and issues associated with water, agriculture and climate change, allowing participants to become more comfortable in addressing climate change with their clientele.
